David has spent his career between the pharmaceutical and energy industries, always with a focus on building strong teams. His time spent leading both people and projects has covered a broad array of disciplines from strategic planning to business intelligence and capital planning and execution.

 

Erin Moffatt

Erin brings a wealth of experience from the energy, tech, and non-profit sectors into her current role as a Senior Sourcing Engineer at Ovintiv. Erin’s professional journey has been marked by her commitment to creating a more sustainable and equitable world, a passion that has been the driving force behind her career. In addition to her role at Ovintiv, Erin has been actively involved in the Energy Futures Lab, Tech Stewardship and the Sustainable Procurement Fellowship, where she aims to further her commitment to sustainable practices in the energy sector. She holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary and registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA. Along with her passion for innovation, Erin is an avid supporter and volunteer of the Calgary based non-profit CAWST. In her spare time you can find her enjoying the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Victor del Valle

Victor was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta in treaty 7 territory.   Victor has a B.Sc. and M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and has been working in the Alberta Energy Industry in various technology development roles for the past 27 years. In that time, Victor has seen first had the powerful impact that technology can have on the energy, ecological and social systems we are a part of. 

Increasingly, he has become very interested in understanding how the motivations, beliefs and values behind a company, society and individuals can shape technology development and how those changes impact the life and prosperity of the planet. Victor has become increasing interested in exploring and cultivating the inner transformations and ways of knowing that are required to better support shared benefits and true sustainable outcomes in our use and development of technology for our energy system.

Sura Abdul-Razzak

Sura currently leads education and engagement activities to stay ahead of trends in industry that may lead to avoidable compliance issues, and to report on market evolution in the industry which may require changes in the regulatory framework. Previously, she worked with the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator and Ontario Ministry of Energy where her work included designing energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, transmission supply acquisition and contract management. As an environmental and energy consultant she worked with a diverse set of clients to help them create and implement strategies to support sustainability objectives. Sura is an avid learner, keen to draw parallels and opportunities that connect the energy industry with environmental as well as social objectives. Sura joined the EFL fellowship program in 2022, when she was new to Alberta and sought to more closely connect with the Alberta energy sector.

 

Rochelle Longval

Rochelle is sparking innovative change. She is a Professional Geoscientist that demonstrates an enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit pushing for sustainable solutions that harness the Earth’s heat. Rochelle progressed her career in the energy sector gaining strong technical foundations discovering target zones and now optimizing existing ones within the geothermal sector. As the Vice President of Geothermal at Blue Spark Energy, Rochelle increases the lifecycle of geothermal wells through an innovative scale removal technology. She has been recognized as an emerging leader “Changing the Face of Energy” as a recipient of the Young Women in Energy Award. Rochelle is an Ambassador with Energy Futures Lab with a focus on intergenerational collaboration and discovering synergies with the emerging energy space. Recently acknowledged by APEGA for her integrity, expertise and outstanding accomplishments, she has been awarded the 2023 Early Accomplishment Award.

Peter Koning

Peter Koning is Senior Director of Sustainable Development at ConocoPhillips Canada. He has over 30 years experience working on environmental and social issues related to oil and gas development. This has included deep engagement with Indigenous communities and environmental organizations. Peter has applied his pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to all his work, including leading or participating in many multi-stakeholder initiatives and influencing government policy and regulations associated with energy development. Since 2016, as a hobby, Peter pursues his passion for the climate change-energy nexus by curating a weekly ‘Energy Shift’ email/blog posted to his website: StewardingEnergy.com

 

Michael Benson

Michael works at the Canada Energy Regulator in the areas of environmental and socio-economic assessments, and engagement with the public and Indigenous Peoples. His professional career concentrates on applying critical and system thinking approaches to solve sustainability challenges in the energy system. He believes that public discussions are an essential part of developing good explanations and guiding societal progress. Not surprisingly, he has experience working with diverse groups of people on sustainable development initiatives across Canada and around the world, including the Energy Futures Lab.

Megan Lohmann

Megan Lohmann has been working in the field of climate and energy for 20 years, engaging with local government, industry, public and Indigenous communities on innovative, local solutions to support the transition to low-carbon communities. She is passionate about designing and implementing high-impact initiatives through effective collaboration between the public and private sectors. Megan is Acting CEO for the Community Energy Association, and has been involved with the Energy Futures Lab in Alberta for five years, and sits as Vice-Chair for Electric Mobility Canada.
