Demetria is a passionate advocate for equitable approaches to environmental sustainability. a trait that is reflected in both her professional and personal pursuits. She currently serves as an Executive Advisor in the Environment and Protected Areas Ministry of the Government of Alberta. Previous public service roles include the Director of Alberta’s ESG Secretariat, Water Sharing Agreement Lead for the 2024 Southern Alberta Drought response and a member of Edmonton’s Environmental Advisory Committee.

Through education, advocacy and thought leadership initiatives, Demetria is a proponent of intersectional environmentalism and aims to connect communities experiencing the impacts of climate change with equitable climate solutions. As Vice President of the Edmonton professional chapter of Net Impact, a global network of social and environmental sustainability champions, she actively works on impact-driven community building in the Edmonton region. She has been a Corporate Sustainability Instructor at the University of Alberta and has supported Edmonton Public Schools annual Climate Summit.

A certified Climate Risk Professional through the Global Association of Risk Professionals, Demetria holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering (South Africa) and an MBA from the University of Alberta.
