Rory Wheat

Development Manager
Varme Energy Inc.

Rory grew up on a farm near the rural community of Vermilion in North East Alberta. The natural environment and wildlife sparked his education pathway towards a degree in environmental biology followed by a Masters in Sustainability and Environmental Management from the University of Saskatchewan. Highlights during his years at the U of S include fishing for Sturgeon on the North Saskatchewan River as part of a research role with Troutreach Saskatchewan. As a student Rory became involved with, and later employed by Student Energy and initiated the student chapter at the University of Saskatchewan. Since May 2022 Rory has been working for Varme Energy, a Canadian enterprise of Green Transition Holding in Norway and has been deeply immersed in bringing their green technology for waste to energy with integrated carbon capture and storage to Canada. Rory is incredibly proud of the vision and goals that Varme has to eliminate the practice of burying our garbage in landfills in Canada, reduce methane emissions, and provide clean – baseload energy.
