Engagement Report: Future Energy Competitiveness in Southern Alberta

Author

Energy Futures Lab

The Lab’s track record of engaging Albertan communities to envision their energy future has generated impact. Our engagement with Pincher Creek and surrounding area has tremendous potential to continue that trend.

This Engagement Report illustrates the processes and outcomes of two regional workshops held in partnership with the Town of Pincher Creek, the M.D. of Pincher Creek, and the Southern Alberta Sustainable Community Initiative (SASCI) exploring the regions ability to capitalize on emerging, clean energy market opportunities.

Through collaborative efforts participants built upon the region’s legacy of innovation and agricultural stewardship, with a shared focus on regional leadership and quality of life for current and future generations.

We gratefully acknowledge the original territories of the Siksikáwa, Îyârhe Nakodabi, and Tsuut’ina Dene, of Mohkínstsisakápiyoyis, Wincheesh-pah, Kootsisáw, or the colonized lands which many now refer to as Calgary, where the Energy Futures Lab is headquartered. These Lands are also home to members of the Métis Nation of Alberta under the Otipemisiwak Métis Government — District 4 & 5, whose peoples have deep relationships with the land. This reminds all of us to walk in a good way and remember our commitments to Indigenous Peoples.
