Energy Futures Lab

Decarbonizing our energy system is a formidable challenge, with electricity playing a pivotal role. A clear vision for our electricity system is crucial, serving as a guiding beacon amidst uncertainty. This vision, developed by the Energy Futures Lab in collaboration with the Alberta’s Electricity Future Coalition and numerous other contributors, reflects insights from diverse stakeholders and engaged communities involved in the Alberta’s Electricity Future initiative.

It outlines essential principles to empower decision-making and coordination, placing Albertans and our province’s economic competitiveness at the forefront. With the help of the vision, we strive to accelerate early progress and build momentum as we navigate towards a prosperous and sustainable future together.

We gratefully acknowledge the original territories of the Siksikáwa, Îyârhe Nakodabi, and Tsuut’ina Dene, of Mohkínstsisakápiyoyis, Wincheesh-pah, Kootsisáw, or the colonized lands which many now refer to as Calgary, where the Energy Futures Lab is headquartered. These Lands are also home to members of the Métis Nation of Alberta under the Otipemisiwak Métis Government — District 4 & 5, whose peoples have deep relationships with the land. This reminds all of us to walk in a good way and remember our commitments to Indigenous Peoples.
