The 2020 Energy Futures Lab Summit will be very different from the 2019 Summit, which focused on leadership in polarized times and where EFL 2.0 was officially launched. This time, it will be a gathering of the active members of the EFL community – Fellows, Partners and Steering Committee members. We will gather over 1.5 days in a retreat-like format, offering opportunities to deepen connections and strengthen our work together. Most importantly, this will be a very unique workshop experience.
At the Summit, external facilitators with expertise in strategic foresight and scenario planning will engage us in deep and generative conversations about possible future scenarios and their relationship to the EFL vision. The process will also involve science-fiction writers who will help our collective work come to life in compelling ways.
The outcome of the session will be a deeper understanding of the strategic implications of different energy transition pathways, which EFL Fellows and partners can use to help shape collective and organizational priorities. The outputs will be tangible future scenarios, expressed as stories, which the EFL can use in future engagement activities.
