Laura is an engineer with a passion for designing how we live in this unique juncture in Alberta’s history: A time when plentiful fossil fuels, the lifeblood of our economy, are creating both uneasiness and tremendous opportunities. Laura is a multi-generational thinker who thrives in the tough conversations around energy transitions and technology. She is a catalyst for developing and leading resourceful, resilient, responsible and enthusiastic people in support of safe and just energy systems. Laura has over 25 years of experience in steel manufacturing, industrial construction, oil transportation, IT, business improvement, and most recently, energy energy storage systems. She has lived in hubs of natural resources including Alberta, northern Ontario, and Oklahoma. Laura studied Environmental Resource Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering and Technology Management but considers LIFE to be the ultimate teacher. Laura is the Chair of the Board of Human Venture Leadership, a non-profit charity for developing capacities in individuals, organizations and societies to meet the challenges and opportunities of our time.
