Senior Business Officer
Derek has been a Senior Business Officer for Western Economic Diversification since 2018. Derek is the organization’s Alberta lead on the energy file, including the clean technology and clean resource sub-sectors. He has worked closely with a number of companies, non-profit organizations and energy stakeholders on WD’s funding programs and in advancing energy policy in the Province. Prior to Western Economic Diversification, Derek was a Senior Policy Advisor for Environment and Climate Change Canada where he worked issues such as climate change, water and biodiversity. Derek holds a Master’s degree in Geography from McGill University.
